Most of the beads used to barter and found in Africa came from Venice, Netherlands, England and France. It all began in the XV century. These beads were bartered against goods and slaves.The richness of the ornaments reflects the social status of whom is wearing it and allows protection from the spiritual powers. Examples of african beads:  Millefori – italian meaning ‘thousands of floweres. kiffa -used as protection.
